Transforming a national radiology healthcare provider

Technology transformation for Pacific Radiology Group to prepare for shifts in the healthcare landscape

The context

The landscape was shifting for Pacific Radiology Group with structural changes in the health sector, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, and market consolidation.

Alyve was engaged to help clarify the impact of these forces, develop a strategic pathway and lead its transformation.

Our approach

Alyve were asked to present to the board setting out the changes in the organsational landscape, and how the business should position for success.

In recognition of the challenges ahead, the board subsequently engaged Alyve to shape, structure, and steer its technology transformation program. Our focus included:

  • Development of the company strategy

  • Establishment of a Project Management Office (PMO) and the execution of strategic initiatives

  • Development of an enterprise architecture which defined the technology gaps and capabilities required to deliver the strategy

  • Design and delivery of an IT enhancement program focused on developing capabilities and improve service delivery

  • Clinical systems architecture design focused on optimising core clinical systems and workflows and driving system interoperability with referring District Health Boards

  • Patient journey mapping to optimise patient experience.

The results

This transformational work enabled the organisation to get an alignment at the board and executive level about where it should focus to achieve its aspirations. It established the transformational capability and activities required to bring this into reality.

Pacific Radiology Group has since been acquired and is now part of New Zealand's largest radiology provider.
